1. Why should I hire a birth photographer?

This is one of the most emotional, memorable days of your life and this is an experience some mothers only get to experience one time. The mothers I work with cherish these memories and know that the emotions, the memories, and all the "firsts" are worth documenting. There is a strong story behind every birth that deserves to be preserved for that precious life that grows within you. One of the sweetest complements I ever received after delivering the final gallery of images was, "The storyline behind these images is so strong, words aren't needed."

2. what is birth photography?

Whenever someone hears the term "birth photography" they immediately think of all the not-so-picture-worthy moments during a birth. My style of shooting is modest, heartwarming, and authentic. I strive to capture the mood, the emotions, and the all the little moments in between that come together into a beautiful storyline that you can safely share with family, friends, and your future children.

3. When should I call you?

I tell my moms to call me when they have reached active labor. This is the stage of labor when contractions have become consistent, strong, and you are dilated to 5-6cm.

4. What if I go into labor at 2:00 am?

Once I am on-call, that means I am 100% available to you at any time of the day or night!

5. What if you are unavailable when I go into labor?

I have several qualified back-up photographers that would be there in the event I was unable to make it.

6. Will my photos be posted online?

Birth is one of the most intimate, private experiences I can share with you, so protecting your privacy is of the utmost importance to me. The images I share are always going to err on the side of caution, as I want to protect and respect the privacy of each and every mother I work with. Should you be uncomfortable with your images being shared, I would be more than happy to respect your wishes.

7. Will I meet you in person before the birth date?

DEFINITELY! This is one of the most important aspects of my birth experience. I would love to treat you coffee (or tea!), where we will discuss your birth plan, your expectations, and get to know each other. When I enter the birthing room, I want you to feel comfortable and confident knowing your memories are being safely captured by a trusted friend.

8. how long will you stay after birth?

I stay anywhere from 1 to 2 hours after the baby is born. This allows me to capture introductions and all of the firsts, including baby's first feeding if you so desire.

9. What is a Fresh 48?

A Fresh 48 session is when I return to the birthing place 24-48 hours after birth, when you have had a chance to shower, change, and get some rest. This is a lifestyle-type session where I will spend one hour documenting the bond between mom, dad, and baby.

10. What about c-sections?

If allowed into the OR, I will join you. If not, I will join you as soon as nurses and doctors give me the go-ahead.

12. do you shoot homebirths?

Yes, of course! Homebirths have turned out to be some of my favorite birth experiences with clients because of the relaxed setting and comforts of being in a home. I’d love to talk more if you’re considering a homebirth!
